1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how the Task MedAlert mobile application (“Task MedAlert”, “the app”) accesses, uses, stores, and shares information. Task MedAlert is developed and provided by DATSOM.
The app helps users create medication schedules, receive reminders, mark medication intake, review their history and statistics, and generate PDF reports.
2. Information entered by the user
The app may process information that the user enters voluntarily, including:
- medication names;
- dosage information;
- comments and notes;
- medication schedules and reminder times;
- medication intake status and history;
- app language, reminder, notification, sound, and display preferences.
Medication information and intake history may be considered health-related or sensitive information.
3. Local storage and data collection
In the current version, user-entered medication data, schedules, history, and settings are stored locally on the user’s device.
- The app does not require registration or a user account.
- The app does not upload user-entered health information to DATSOM servers.
- The app does not include advertising SDKs.
- The app does not include analytics or behavioral tracking SDKs.
- The app does not automatically sell or share user-entered data.
To support troubleshooting, the app may create limited diagnostic information locally on the device. This information is not automatically transmitted to DATSOM.
Android cloud backup is disabled for Task MedAlert app data. The app does not use Android Auto Backup to upload app data to Google Drive or another cloud-backup service.
During setup of a new Android device, Android may transfer selected local app data directly from the old device to the new device. This may include medication data, schedules, intake history, and settings stored in the app’s local preferences. Device-to-device transfer depends on Android, the device manufacturer, and the user’s choices during setup. DATSOM does not receive or control the transferred data.
Locally generated diagnostic information and temporary PDF report files are excluded from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer.
4. PDF reports and user-initiated sharing
The app can generate medication intake PDF reports locally on the device. A report is created only when the user requests it.
The user may choose to open or share a report through the Android system share interface or another installed application. Sharing is voluntary and initiated by the user. Once the user selects another application or recipient, that third party may process the file under its own privacy policy. DATSOM does not control the selected third-party application or recipient.
5. Permissions and device features
Depending on the Android version and features enabled by the user, Task MedAlert may request or use access to:
- notifications, to show medication reminders;
- alarms and exact scheduling, to deliver reminders at selected times;
- the Android system sound picker, to let the user select a reminder sound;
- local app storage, to maintain schedules, history, settings, and generated reports.
These permissions are used only to provide the corresponding app functionality. Users can manage Android permissions in the device settings.
6. Third-party services
The current app version does not use third-party advertising, analytics, social-network, or cloud-storage SDKs to collect user-entered medication data.
Google Play may independently process information related to downloading, installing, licensing, security, and operation of apps under Google’s own terms and privacy policies.
7. Data retention and deletion
Local data remains on the device until the user deletes it, clears the app’s storage, or uninstalls the app.
Users can remove data by:
- deleting medicines or records through available app controls;
- clearing Task MedAlert storage in Android system settings;
- uninstalling Task MedAlert.
User-created PDF files, exported copies, and files shared with another app may remain until the user deletes them separately. Data transferred directly to a new Android device may remain on that device until the user deletes it, clears the app’s storage, or uninstalls the app. Because the current version has no online account or DATSOM cloud storage, DATSOM does not hold a remote account record to delete.
8. Security
Task MedAlert relies on Android application storage and operating-system protections to help keep locally stored information isolated from other apps. No method of storage or device protection can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users are responsible for protecting access to their device, transferred data, exported files, and shared reports.
9. Children
Task MedAlert is not designed specifically for children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children through DATSOM servers, because the current version does not operate user accounts or upload user-entered data to DATSOM.
A parent or guardian should supervise a child’s medication plan and use of the app where required by applicable law or medical guidance.
10. Medical Disclaimer
Before starting, stopping, or changing any medication, users should consult a doctor, pharmacist, or other qualified healthcare professional. Users are responsible for the accuracy of the medication names, dosages, intake times, schedules, and other information they enter into the app.
Notifications and reminders may fail to appear or may be delayed due to device settings, notification permissions, battery-saving features, the app being force-closed, the device being turned off or discharged, Android or iOS system restrictions, or other technical or software failures.
Task MedAlert should not be relied upon as the sole means of ensuring the timely administration of critical medications.
Do not delay seeking professional or emergency medical care because of information displayed in the app.
11. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when Task MedAlert features, data practices, legal requirements, or integrated services change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
